AIN has extensive experience in coordination, management and execution of regional, national and international research projects and a solid knowledge of the coastal communities of the proposed study location supported by over 25 years of research. In the project coordination, AIN will be supported by AP and EC
CB has experience and know‐how in the determination of biological activity mechanisms, which are often correlated with the presence of chemical defence compounds, which may be scaffolds for substances with pharmacological and/or biotechnological application
Carmo Barreto
University of Azores
AS has large experience in the characterization of chemical compounds from natural sources, including from Azorean macroalgae, using preparative and non‐preparative chromatographic methodology and spectroscopic techniques, as demonstrated by articles published in high impact factor journals in the field of chemistry and thesis supervision
Ana Seca
University of Azores
Eva Cacabelos
EC has extensive experience in the analysis of factors affecting littoral communities. She has participated in projects investigating the effects of invasions, climate change or anthropogenic perturbations in benthic communities, as well as related to valorisation of marine resources. She is thus well acquainted with the methods of investigating effects of NIS in littoral systems

João Faria
JF holds a PhD in Biology from the University of Lisbon and has been accumulating considerable knowledge on coastal habitats. He has proven to be skilful in applying experimental ecology designs and molecular and genetic tools to better understand how biological diversity is generated and infer the ecological and environmental forces that have contributed to the structure and connectivity of marine populations
University of Azores
Marc Fernandez
MF holds a PhD in Biology and his work has been based on marine communities, with a special focus on pelagic species. He has worked on the establishment of an open and collaborative long‐term database of opportunistic cetacean sightings (MONICET). His main research goal is to test and adapt classical terrestrial niche‐modelling techniques into the marine environment
University of Azores
AP is a PhD student in Biology with extensive experience in coastal Azorean communities and a vast participation in the management and execution of regional, national and international research projects
Afonso Prestes

Gustavo Martins
University of Azores
GM is a Post-Doctoral researcher with broad research interests that include the community ecology of intertidal rocky shores, the population and community level effects of harvesting, the importance of biodiversity for ecosystem processes, the impact of man-made structures on coastal ecosystems and the effects of climate change on species interactions. His work is mostly field-based and often in the rocky intertidal where he uses observational and experimental approaches to test ecological hypotheses.
Artur Gil
AG holds a PhD in Environmental Science. He is currently a Post-Doc Research Scientist in Remote Sensing of Environment. His current research is focused on the development of remote sensing-based environmental indicators in order to support decision-making on Land Management and Environmental Planning in remote areas as small oceanic Islands, mountainous and rural zones.

AMI holds a Degree in Forest Resources Engineering. She has been the Regional Director of Forest Resources of the Azorean government since 2010. She began her professional activity in the Forest Inventory area, having developed practical work on the National Forest Inventory.
Anabela M. Isidoro
Direção Regional dos Recursos Florestais
VM holds a degree in Forestry Engineering from Technical University of Lisbon. Since 2009, he has been the Director of Forest Services, coordinating teams that work on the implementation of components of the DRRF Information System, as well as matters related to the management the forest resources of the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
Vasco Medeiros
Direção Regional dos Recursos Florestais
João Pacheco
Direção Regional dos Recursos Florestais
JLP is a Forest Engineer specialized in Natural Resources Management, with a Master's Degree in Management and Nature Conservation, that has been working at the Forest Services of the Azores Government since 2006. Experienced in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), he began in 2014 pursuing knowledge regarding the acquisition and processing of aerial imagery by UAV’s, producing orthophotos to analyze land use and land cover changes (LULCC) in order to support decision-making on forest management planning.
Ruben Amaral
Direção Regional dos Recursos Florestais
RA holds a degree in Environmental Engineering. Since 2006, he has been working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) on the Forest Services of the Azores Government, with responsibility in all the geographic information that the forest department collect, update and produce. In the past two years, he had expand is knowledge and interest on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), achieving already a large experience in flight and image processing. He is currently working in a new methodology for Forest inventory using UAV (“Drones”).
IM is a marine biologist that has been gaining considerable knowledge and experience in algal taxonomy and ecology. He shows significant experience in field sampling procedures, both at intertidal and subtidal levels, and is eager to pursue a marine science career.
